Kevin Tao

Composer

Kevin Tao was born in Toronto, Canada and his later relocated to Indianapolis. His violin studies started at the age of 13 and continued in orchestras and chamber music ensembles through high school and college. While studying computer science at Purdue University, Kevin took an elective course in music theory. He found it fascinating to learn how music was actually constructed from the notes. He started tinkering with his own compositions, and eventually music became one of his biggest hobbies. These days, Kevin is busy building a website involving one of his other interests: poker. In his spare time, he enjoys composing and arranging music, Beethoven being his musical inspiration. He plays baseball in the summer, snowboards in the winter, and he's a classical music nut year-round. Tonight's premiere of his Symphonic Overture will be the first performance of one of Kevin's original orchestral compositions. Kevin is one of the founding members of PSSO and is pleased to dedicate this piece to Alan Shen and the members of PSSO in commemoration of its 10th anniversary season.
